Gaziantep, one of the locomotive provinces of Turkey's exports, exported 927 million 172 thousand dollars in April. Exports in the January-April period of 2022 reached 3 billion 568 million 154 thousand dollars.
Evaluating the April export figures announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce (GTO) Chairman of the Board Tuncay Yıldırım underlined that Gaziantep is one of the provinces that contributes the most to the export target of the country and said:
“Gaziantep, which has an export-oriented growth model like Turkey, is one of the cities that contribute the most to Turkey's 250 billion dollars 2022 export target. According to April data, we have exceeded the same month of the previous year by 927%, with exports of 172 million 5 thousand dollars. We closed the January-April period exports with 12,82 billion 3 million 568 thousand dollars with an increase of 154% compared to the same period of the previous year. I congratulate all our exporter members and employees who contributed to this success and wish them continued success.” Said.
Expressing that Gaziantep has an economy with sector and market diversity, President Yıldırım stated that Gaziantep exports the most in the Cereals, Legumes, Oil Seeds and Products sector in the first four months of the year. Yıldırım said, “Gaziantep economy, which has sector and market diversity, realized approximately 26% of its total exports in the January-April period in the Cereals, Legumes, Oil Seeds and Products sector. The exports of the sector increased by 33% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 912 million 602 thousand dollars. In the same period, the second sector with the highest exports was machine carpet with 676 million dollars. Iraq remains our largest market. In the January-April period, our exports to Iraq increased by 20% compared to the previous year and amounted to 579 million 730 thousand dollars. Iraq is followed by the USA with 437 million 655 thousand dollars. Considering the economic and political developments in the world, we experience the importance of creating market diversity and not carrying eggs in the same basket. As the Chamber, we try to guide our members to explore new markets and to make business opportunities in existing markets safer. In this context, I invite all our exporters to the “Hungary Country Day” that we will hold together with the Hungarian Embassy in Ankara on 12 May. ” he spoke.
“The important thing is that Gaziantep continues and accelerates this export success.” Tuncay Yıldırım, Chairman of the GTO, said that in order to maintain this successful performance, the real sector should be supported and the obstacles in front of it should be removed. Yıldırım pointed out that the most tiring thing for the producer in the current period is the high input costs.
