China-Europe freight trains will become an important alternative, as sea freight charges have risen to a relatively high level.

As the third freight train from China has recently arrived in Frankfurt, the managing director of an organized industrial zone in Frankfurt said he believes the train will create more job opportunities in the city. Kawus Khederzadeh, general manager of an organized industrial zone in Hoechst Frankfurt, said in a recent interview with Xinhua that China-Europe freight trains offer a different route for direct connection, given the difficulties experienced in both sea and air transport. “The trains will increase the vitality of the logistics sector in Frankfurt and create more job opportunities,” said Khederzadeh.

A freight train from Shenyang, China, carrying auto parts and components, arrived in Frankfurt's Hoechst district on Wednesday. This is the third freight train to reach Frankfurt from China in the last 12 months. While China-Europe freight trains regularly travel to many destinations in European countries, there is no regular freight train connecting Frankfurt to China. Located in the center of the European continent, Frankfurt is well connected with other destinations in Europe for all modes of transport. Khederzadeh said that China-Europe freight trains will become an important alternative, as sea freight charges have risen to a relatively high level.
