Çavuşoğlu Shouted To His Swedish Colleague at NATO Meeting

It was alleged that Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu raised his voice against his Swedish counterpart, Ann Linde, at the NATO summit in Berlin and said that he was disturbed by his "feminist policy".

While Turkey's objections to Finland and Sweden's applications for NATO membership continued, it was claimed that Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu raised his voice against Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde at the NATO summit that took place over the weekend.

At the meeting in Berlin, Çavuşoğlu not only put forward conditions for Turkey to accept membership offers, but also 'raised his voice' against his Swedish counterpart, Ann Linde. Three NATO diplomats described these moments as "shameful".

Another NATO diplomat, describing the tense atmosphere at the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin, said, “It was a historic moment for us and Çavuşoğlu said that he was uncomfortable with Linde's 'feminist policy' and that it brought a lot of drama.” Meanwhile, the diplomats preferred silence to calm the situation.

Speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue, the diplomat said, “We were trying to understand what our Turkish colleague wanted, that is, what he really wanted. It was embarrassing,” he said.
