In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu noted that there was also congestion on the airway during the Eid al-Fitr holiday and pointed out that all measures were taken at the airports for the comfortable and comfortable travel of passengers. Noting that 1 million 430 thousand passengers traveled on domestic lines and 1 million 540 thousand passengers on international lines, Karaismailoğlu announced that a total of 2 million 970 thousand passengers preferred the airway during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

1 MILLION 65 THOUSAND PASSENGER PASSENGERS TRAVELED AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT

Emphasizing that in the same period, a total of 2 thousand 145 aircraft, 5 thousand 57 on domestic flights and 7 thousand 202 on international flights, landed and took off at Istanbul Airport, and drew attention to the fact that the total number of passengers was 1 million 65 thousand. Karaismailoğlu said, “Passenger traffic was 299 thousand 951 on domestic lines and 764 thousand 853 on international lines. Since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, Istanbul Airport has reached the highest daily flight figure of the last 30 years, with 301 flights and 195 passengers hosted on April 640," he said.

ANTALYA AIRPORT HOSTED 474 thousand 752 PASSENGERS

Noting that there was activity at the airports in the tourism centers during the holiday period, the Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, "Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport hosted 163 thousand 56, Antalya Airport 474 thousand 752, Muğla Dalaman Airport 77 thousand 481, Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport 62 thousand 92 passengers." 58 thousand 331 passengers traveled at Trabzon Airport, 38 thousand 900 passengers at Gaziantep Airport, 25 thousand 577 passengers at Van Ferit Melen Airport and 31 thousand 898 passengers at Diyarbakir Airport.

RİZE-ARTVİN AIRPORT TO OPEN ON MAY 14

Reminding that he made inspections at Rize-Artvin Airport on the 2nd day of Eid al-Fitr, Karaismailoğlu stated that Rize-Artvin Airport will be opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 14.

Karaismailoğlu said, “Our Rize-Artvin Airport is the 2nd airport in Turkey and the 5th in the world, built by filling the sea after Ordu-Giresun Airport. There is no other example in Europe. It has a track with a width of 45 meters and a length of 3 meters. Rize-Artvin Airport will be able to serve 3 million passengers a year. We increased the number of active airports from 26 to 57. With Rize-Artvin Airport, this number will increase to 58. We made the airline the way of the people. Our investments in airlines will continue without slowing down.”
