Ankara Metropolitan Municipality hosted “May Fest'22” in Gazi Park in cooperation with BelPa AŞ and Decathlon. At the sports festival, which was held in Ankara for the first time in Turkey with the slogan 'No one who does not do sports', all Başkent residents from 7 to 70 had a fun day trying different sports branches. At the end of the festival, Ankara City Orchestra also gave a concert.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to organize sports activities in order to encourage the citizens of the Capital to do sports with the aim of healthy future generations.
Capital residents showed great interest in the “May Fest'22” held in Gazi Park in cooperation with ABB Youth and Sports Services Department, Culture and Social Affairs Department, BelPa AŞ and Decathlon.
GOAL: NO ONE WHO DOES NOT DO SPORTS IN THE BAŞKENT
Hosting the sports festival "May Fest'22", the first of which was held in Ankara this year, in order to spread the passion for sports throughout Turkey, ABB brought together both sports fans and professional athletes in Gazi Park, which was brought back to the citizens of the Capital.
Expressing that they are pleased with the intense interest, ABB Youth and Sports Services Department Head Mustafa Artunç said, “As our Mansur Yavaş President said, we are holding the sports festival with the slogan 'No one should do sports'. Here, as ABB, we cooperated with our stakeholders. Sports clubs of our municipality also took their place here. Our aim is to contribute to our youth and children to do some sports.”
In the festival held in Gazi Park in May, with the slogan 'No one who does not do sports, stays free'; Special areas have been established for different sports, from football to basketball, from volleyball to tennis, from skating to skateboarding, from camping to cycling, from pilates to yoga, from climbing to archery.
While the residents of Başkent had the opportunity to experience 15 different sports in the company of sports coaches, there were also fun and exciting moments with competitions and tournaments. Free bicycle maintenance service was provided at the festival, where talks on sports and nutrition were also held.
SUPPORT TO SPORTS AND ATHLETES WILL CONTINUE
BelPa AŞ General Manager Ramazan Valuy stated that they will continue to support sports and athletes with the festival where ASKİ Sports Club and FOMGET Youth and Sports Club athletes answered the questions of the audience.
“We started 2022 with festivals. In January and February, we first organized a winter festival. Today, we organize a sports festival in cooperation with our stakeholders. Many young people participated from the early hours of the morning. We say that those who do not do sports should not stay in Ankara. As ABB President Mr. Mansur Yavaş said, we invite everyone from 7 to 70 to do sports.”
In the festival, frisbee, goal scoring, slow cycling, hoop turning and tent opening-closing competition and climbing wall activity, tennis lesson, table tennis tournament, arrow shooting lesson, trampoline jumping, pilates, kick box, karate, hip-hop, rhythm group Activities of various sports branches such as zumba, skateboarding show, zumba and fitness were also organized.
In the festival, where interviews and seminars were held with experts on training sciences and athlete health, the tricks of healthy eating and drinking were also explained, and special activity workshops were set up for children.
BAŞKENT PEOPLE ARE SATISFIED WITH SPORTS
EGO Sports Club President Taner Özgün stated that he was proud to take part in an event full of sports with the club's athletes and said, “We took part in the event with our athletes and parents. We have a president who loves and loves sports. We have a president who is fully involved in all kinds of sports activities such as bicycle paths. On behalf of my athletes, I thank you very much. He showed what can be done with the municipality of Mansur Yavaş,” he said.
Stating that they both had a pleasant day and had the opportunity to do sports thanks to the sports festival held in Gazi Park in greenery, Başkent residents expressed their thoughts with the following words:
Mustafa Aydogan: “When we saw such a beautiful event with my children, we did not want to miss it. Our President Mansur organizes sports events very well. We are having fun as a child right now. Thank you very much to our President.
Tugba Karakoparan: “I came to Gazi Park for the first time thanks to this event. It is very nice that it is opened for children and young people. The events are also fun and good. We tried to take advantage. It was a pleasure to evaluate Sunday in this way.”
Mustafa Karakoparan: “It is a very nice event, we brought our children for a tour. Children and adults alike have a good time. Thank you to the Metropolitan Municipality for everything.”
Turkan Feyza Celik: “I am a 7th grade student. It's a pretty cool event. I played volleyball and basketball. I participated in competitions.”
Ceylin Bayram: “I am in the 6th grade and I am an EGO Sports Club athlete. I had a lot of fun at this event. We played volleyball and football. We also tried cycling.”
The festival, in which the participants of the competitions won surprise prizes, ended with the concert given by the ABB City Orchestra. The people of Başkent, accompanying nostalgic songs on the grass, had a pleasant Sunday with their families.
