Şırnak's First International Tennis Tournament Cudi Cup Started

The first international tennis tournament of Şırnak, Cudi Cup, started with events and competitions. 81 athletes from Turkey, Russia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Poland, Iran, Georgia and England participated in the tournament held in Cudi, which was cleared of terrorism. They came together with the athletes participating in the Cudi Cup.

The organization, which started on the university campus under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with the support and coordination of the Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF), the Governor's Office, the municipality and Şırnak University (ŞÜ), is the first international tennis tournament of the city.

2 athletes, 14 of whom are girls aged 37 and under, from Turkey, Russia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Poland, Iran, Georgia and England participated in the tournament, which will last until May 81.

Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, told reporters that as the federation, they developed projects in line with the policies of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to spread sports.

Reminding that they organized a national tournament in Şırnak last year, Durmuş said, “We are organizing a very good tournament here. Şırnak is excited, so are we. We're all going to do a great job as a starter. It is a first in the history of the Federation to hold an international tournament here. The eyes of the whole world are on us. Sirnak succeeded. Hopefully, we will be together with more beautiful projects.” said.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with the support and coordination of the Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF), the Governor's Office, the municipality and Şırnak University (ŞÜ), the Digital Crew group gave a concert as part of the organization held on the university campus.

Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, in his speech here, said that as Şırnak, they were excited and happy to host the tournament. Reminding that the National Cudi Cup tournament was held in the city last year, Pehlivan said, “Some things start with dreams. It's not easy. To stand out from the European capitals and take this tournament here, which is of great importance because it is the first time in our city. It finally happened.” he said.

Mayor Mehmet Yarka also stated that in the past, gunfire echoed on the outskirts of Cudi and said that racket sounds echoed now.

Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, also stated that as the federation, they always want to tell Turkey that tennis can be played by everyone.
