During his investigations, the Mayor of Iyidere, Saffet Mete, accompanied Avcı.

Avcı told reporters here that the logistics port is one of the huge investments in Rize.

Stating that the Rize Logistics Port will be operational by the end of 2023, Avcı said, “We think it will be an important employment gateway. We think that one of the most important development issues of Rize will be the logistics port. It will indirectly employ 8-10 thousand people.” said.

Expressing that especially the organized industrial zone will become much stronger with the logistics port and companies will show a more serious demand, Avcı continued his words as follows: “A road connection that can extend from Mardin to Iran reaches the logistics center through the Ovit Tunnel. An airport connection is formed with our airport to be opened. Approximately 10 percent of the filling works of the logistics port have been completed. Work continues very quickly. It will be the 15th port in Turkey with a quay depth of 4 meters at the moment. In fact, this depth shows us the capacity of this place. It shows the targeted size, commercial capacity, carrying capacity.”

Noting that the logistics center will also be the guarantee of the railway, Avcı stated that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, told them that a railway connection will be made to both Trabzon and Rize and that their work is being carried out.

It will also provide indirect employment opportunities for 8 thousand people.

The port will contribute to the transportation of transit cargoes to Turkey on a global scale.

With the Rize Iyidere Logistics Port Project, the tender of which was held on July 16, 2020, a port and logistics center with an annual capacity of 13 million tons will be brought to Rize, and a new logistics base will be built in the Black Sea.

The port, which will be built with the most environmentally sound approaches, will make a significant contribution to both the economy of the provinces of the region and the trade volume of the country.

The impact of the said port project on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be approximately 191 million 978 thousand dollars, and its effect on production will be 427 million 425 thousand dollars. The project will provide direct employment to 34 people and indirect employment to 1000 thousand people in 8 sectors.
