KARAOK Anti-Tank Missile Firing Tests Completed Successfully

The Infrared Imager (IIR) seeker head developed by ASELSAN for the KARAOK short-range anti-tank missile has reached the qualification stage

Shooting tests for the Short Range Anti-Tank Gun KARAOK's Infrared Imager (IIR) Head have been successfully carried out and the qualification stage has been reached. The said information was included in the 2021 Annual Report published by ASELSAN. According to the report, the targets were successfully destroyed with full hit in the tests carried out with Seeker Head guided fire.

KARAOK, which Roketsan started to work on in 2016, is expected to be included in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory in 2022. İsmail Demir, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, mentioned the aforementioned issue within the scope of the 2022 targets. İsmail Demir had announced that the ATMACA anti-ship missile and the KARAOK anti-tank missile would be included in the inventory for the first time by ROKETSAN.

In the statement sent by ASELSAN to the Public Disclosure Platform on August 12, 2016, it was announced that a contract with ROKETSAN for the 'Development of the KARAOK System Infrared Seeker Head' with a total cost of approximately 44 million Turkish lira was signed. In the statement, it was noted that the deliveries will be made between 2018-2022 under the said contract.

KARAOK anti-tank will enter the TAF inventory in 2022

Composed of a missile and a weapon system, KARAOK stands out with its high warhead performance and superior capabilities of its weapon system compared to its counterparts. Thanks to the thermal imagers on it, KARAOK will be a light and portable system that will allow working day and night.

KARAOK can be used successfully in any combat environment, especially in built-up combat situations, where light portable anti-tank missiles with a relatively shorter range and less back danger zone are needed.
