The world-famous Sümela Monastery in Trabzon's Maçka district has been reopened to visitors.

Sümela Monastery, which was built by carving the rocks in a forest area 300 meters above the valley, on the outskirts of Karadağ overlooking the Altındere Valley in Maçka district, was closed a while ago against the risk of rockfall and was taken under restoration.

As part of the restoration works in the historical monastery, rock holding barriers were built while the large-sized rock pieces that pose a danger were fixed with steel ropes.

After the restoration was completed, the monastery was reopened to local and foreign tourists.

Despite the downpour and fog, tourists visited the Sumela Monastery.

The monastery can be visited by local and foreign tourists between 08.00:19.00 and 13.00:19.00. On the first day of Eid al-Fitr, it was stated that the monastery will be open to visitors between XNUMX-XNUMX.
