Erdogan: We Can't Say 'Yes' to Finland and Sweden Joining NATO

President Erdoğan made a statement to members of the press who asked him questions about the agenda at the exit of the Friday prayer. Regarding the accession process of Finland and Sweden to NATO, President Erdoğan said, “We had a wide meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands today. Tomorrow, again, England and Finland have requests for their meeting. We will have talks with them. Likewise, we will have a meeting with Stoltenberg at work.” said.

When asked what issues would be discussed in his meeting with Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez today, President Erdoğan stated that the main theme of the meetings where the heads of state came together was bilateral relations.

Regarding the meeting, President Erdoğan said, “What kind of relations can there be between Turkey and Colombia right now? What can we do? We will discuss them first. Apart from this, of course, the second step will be regional issues. Among these regional issues, it is the well-known Russia-Ukraine issue that is at the forefront of these issues in the world at the moment. We will have the opportunity to discuss them. Of course, another important issue is that there are different dimensions of terrorism in the world, but one of them, the most important, is drug smuggling. We will have the opportunity to discuss them. ” he said.

President Erdoğan stated that he will also make statements after meeting with Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez.

“Now they have made a cover for the European Union's recognition of the PKK as a terrorist organization.”

President Erdoğan, after a journalist reminded that the PKK/YPG terrorist organization took initiatives to prevent the return of civilians returning to areas cleared of terrorist organizations in Syria, said:

“First of all, the fight against terrorism is not a superficial concept. Its coverage is very, very broad. And our fight against the PKK is also as you all know… In fact, they have now made a cover for the European Union's recognition of the PKK as a terrorist organization. They say they consider the PKK a terrorist organization. Well, on the other hand, why don't you accept the YPG as a terrorist organization? They are not the ones who know best, we are. YPG is definitely a terrorist organization that the PKK gave birth to in a different way. And right now I'm going even further, in the same way in the world as in the European Union, even America gives them many opportunities at the point of negotiation. And right now, in many European countries, especially in Germany, in the Netherlands, in Sweden, in Finland and in France, are these terrorist organizations performing all kinds of demonstrations? He does. And along with these demonstrations, do they spread terror there? It blows. And do the governments of these countries give them all kinds of assurances? Unfortunately it does. As we have repeatedly told them at international meetings, we have always expressed, told them, and presented documents to them in bilateral meetings. And by showing all these video recordings to them, 'Look, these are terrorist organizations and the crimes committed by this terrorist organization are obvious.'

Emphasizing that Turkey has been fighting against terrorism for years, President Erdoğan said: “All their focus in these caves, making Qandil a center for themselves, is probably the PKK and YPG's undeniable terror. But unfortunately the West still hides them. Here they are doing all kinds of walks, especially in Germany, Sweden and Finland. When we say, 'Give us these terrorists,' they unfortunately did not give us these terrorists until today, they do not. Of course, since we are the ones who know and follow this business best at the moment, we will continue to do what is necessary.” said.

"We can't say 'Yes' to his entry into NATO."

President Erdoğan said, “You have previously expressed your stance against attempts to join Finland and Sweden in NATO. Have you received any feedback from the aforementioned countries on this matter, is there any new development on the subject?” When asked, he said:

“We had an extensive meeting with the Dutch Prime Minister today. Tomorrow, again, England and Finland have their meeting requests, we will have meetings with them. Likewise, we will have a meeting with Stoltenberg at work. Of course, we will continue to hold all these talks in order not to interrupt the telephone diplomacy between us. But what is it that we say clearly and unequivocally? First of all, since we have all the documents and information of these terrorist organizations and we are the victims of this, please, if we know NATO's sensitivities against terrorism, if we know that NATO is a security organization, we should not accept such a terrorist organization into NATO, which is a security organization. And we can't say 'yes'. I think the same for Sweden. I think the same for Finland. And right now, many of the European Union member countries are making them speak in their own parliaments, let alone accepting these terrorist organizations. They include them in their own parliaments and provide opportunities. They supply weapons and ammunition. Now we know and see these, and since we are the victims of all these, no one should apologize, we cannot say 'Yes' to the entry of these terrorist organizations into NATO, which is a security organization.”

After making statements to the press members at the exit, he met with the citizens. sohbet President Erdoğan left the mosque to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Hospice Social Service City, which will take place in Arnavutköy.
