The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced the start of electrification tests in Gaziray, which will breathe life into Gaziantep transportation. Noting that 85% of the project has been completed, the Ministry noted that with Gaziray, fast and comfortable transportation will be achieved.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was noted that the ministry's efforts to develop the urban rail system network in Turkey continue, and one of these studies is the Gaziantep Gaziray project. In the statement, which stated that the works were carried out by TCDD, it was emphasized that 26 overpasses, 6 underpasses, 6 culverts and 26 stations would be built within the scope of the 16-kilometer project.

In the statement, it was stated that the existing single-track railway between Başpınar-Mustafayavuz-Taşpınar, which passes through the city of Gaziantep, will be made 4-line and that it is planned to operate suburban trains from 2 lines and high-speed and conventional trains from 2 lines. “Electrification tests have started in Gaziray. Tests will continue throughout the week,” the statement continued as follows:

“The total physical progress throughout the project is 85 percent. Electrification works are planned to be completed by the end of May. It is aimed to complete the signaling works in the second half of this year, and the train depot works in the last quarter of the year. With the completion of the project, Gaziantep's traffic will breathe, and significant savings in time, fuel and carbon emissions will be achieved. Gaziantep residents will have fast and comfortable transportation”
