Chinese researchers have developed a new method for the treatment of glaucoma, an eye condition that can extend to blindness. A group of researchers from Sun Yat-Sen University has developed a smart contact lens that can automatically adjust the dose of drugs. New Scientists have designed a wireless, battery-free contact lens that monitors the pressure in the eyeball before making the on-demand and controlled release of the glaucoma drug.

The study was published in the latest issue of the journal Nature. According to the article in the journal, the new contact lens uses a high-density, double-layer structural design that integrates electrical circuits into its curved and confined surface without obstructing the wearer's vision.
