Before the meeting, 68 people donated nearly 100 valuable works chosen from their libraries for the “A Library for Every Neighborhood” campaign initiated by Mayor Soyer. Soyer, who welcomed the books with great joy, later visited the exhibition opened in memory of Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan and Hüseyin İnan.

"That soul is not dead"

Soyer said, “This was a meeting we have been waiting for months. We wanted to bring you together with each other and with our young friends. I think you are still beautiful children. Whatever your age, we know what your heart is. We know what you are carrying and what you are carrying. We know that you have hearts that will never grow old. Good luck, it's been 50 years since three saplings died. In fact, the three saplings may now have grown into three plane trees. Young people have a lot to learn from you. Because in this age of speed, memories are lost. However, we desperately need those memories. We need to know why they consider you their enemy, what suffering they cause you, and how you struggle with them. You are the pole star for us. You are the light source for us. They burned into flames, but left their light. That light guides us. The seas carry the spirit of the Turkish revolution. That spirit is not dead," he said.

Author Oktay Kaynak, who was the moderator of the conversation, said, “Today, we have experienced again that the meeting of the 68's is extremely meaningful. This project is my president's project. I met him 12 years ago. He is a visionary scientist. He organized an anthropology symposium 6 times in a row in Seferihisar. He learned that he was 68 with my poetry book and prepared this project. This meeting has a motto. We will meet on May 68 until the last 6 people remain. We hope it will continue after us.”

After the speeches, the participants took the floor and talked about the 68 wind blowing all over the world. In the interview where emotional moments were experienced, messages that will give hope for the future were given. At the meeting, young people asked the representatives of the 68th generation questions about yesterday, today and tomorrow.
