In the Taklimakan Desert in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China, dozens of construction machines are preparing the road bed by leveling the high sand dunes.

The construction works of the highway, which will be 151 kilometers long, started on February 26 this year.

The road is expected to open in October 2023.

So far in Xinjiang, many desert roads have been opened, facilitating travel and supporting local economic development.
