Organized with the support of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the 4th International Gaziantep Opera and Ballet Festival started with the musical of Hisseli Wonders Company, staged by Samsun State Opera and Ballet artists.

Organized by the Metropolitan Municipality, Gaziantep Governor's Office and Gaziantep University (GAÜN) and prepared by the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, the festival was admired for the musical, dance and musical performances exhibited at the GAÜN Mavera Convention and Art Center on the first day.

Hisseli Wonders Company, one of the most watched musicals in Turkey, written and directed by Haldun Dormen, lyrics by Çiğdem Talu and composed by Melih Kibar, was staged for the first time in an opera and accompanied by a symphony orchestra after its premiere in Samsun. The two-act musical, which lasted for about 3 hours, talked about the search for a new headliner that started after the headliner of a tent theater in Anatolia transferred to a big casino, and the funny events that developed when a village owner fell in love with the new headliner.

On the stage, the photos of the unforgettable actors Adile Naşit, Erol Evgin and other actors and Haldun Dormen's photo were reflected on the screen. The audience applauded the master actors for minutes.

The music of the piece, which was staged as a new production, was arranged by the composer and conductor Kıvanç Tepe and adapted it for the symphonic orchestra. The musical was directed by Şahan Gürkan, costume design by Gülnur Çağlayan Tuluk, decor design by Hakkı Kandır, and lighting design by Oğuz Murat Yılmaz.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Erdem Güzelbey, who made a speech at the end of the musical, stated that it was a very nice evening with the show and said:

“As part of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day activities, we are holding the fourth Opera and Ballet Festival, which is held only in Gaziantep in Anatolia. We are trying to do good works together with Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, universities, NGOs and institutions in terms of culture and art. It is a pleasure for you art lovers to contribute by joining us. I commemorate all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with mercy. I believe that our young people will work to make the Republic of Turkey a more prosperous country for many centuries.”

State Opera and Ballet Deputy General Director Solmaz Haberal, in his speech before the show, said, “I am very honored to be with the people of Gaziantep on the eve of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day and to experience this pleasure with you. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk says, 'A nation without art means that one of its lifelines has been severed'. We are very honored to give life to this vein together with you, with all our material and spiritual strength. I would like to thank Gaziantep University, especially Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.”
