25 Thousand Square Meters of 'Square' Good News from İmamoğlu to Maltepe

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, made investigations in the construction of the square arrangement that will change life in Maltepe. Giving the good news that the works will be completed in 2023, İmamoğlu said, “This line, which has a total length of 1 kilometer, will make it fluid for traffic after it is finished. On top of it, an extraordinary usage area of approximately 25 thousand square meters will emerge. "The mosque here and the beautiful use of the area in front of it will become an incredible shopping point for tradesmen, this line and this region, as well as a meeting point and a socializing point for people," he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlumade investigations at the "Maltepe Square Arrangement" construction site, which also includes the Bağdat Street underpass construction. İmamoğlu, who received information about the works from İBB Deputy Secretary General Gürkan Alpay and Head of Science Department Recep Korkut, continued his examinations along Atatürk Caddesi in Altayçeşme Mahallesi. İmamoğlu, who did not refuse the requests to take photos from the citizens who showed great interest to him along the way, made his evaluations about the inspection tour at the construction site. After taking office, he emphasized that after their meetings with Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç, they considered the traffic density on the line known as the 'minibus road' on Bağdat Street as the first priority problem of the region.

“I AM THE WITNESS TO THE PROBLEM FOR 35 YEARS”

Pointing out that he is a witness to this problem for 35 years, İmamoğlu said, “With this conviction, we carried out a serious infrastructure and project work. And of course we needed a business calendar here. This work schedule was important. Because, as you can see, there are important buildings and workplaces on both the right and left sides of the street. Buildings have certain life limits. Or there are issues related to construction. We handled it all. We started a hard, meticulous and at the same time fast work. It is important whether it is in front of the Central Mosque of Maltepe, where we are now, and our pedestrianized street just above it, and the entrance and exit points with the beach next to it," he said.

“An EXTRAORDINARY USAGE AREA OF 25 thousand square meters will emerge”

Saying, "This line, which has a total length of 1 kilometer, will make it fluid for traffic after it is finished," said İmamoğlu.

“On top of it, an extraordinary usage area of approximately 25 thousand square meters will emerge. This is a challenge. The mosque here and the beautiful use of the area in front of it will become an incredible shopping point for tradesmen, this line and this region, as well as a meeting point and a socializing point for people. We are doing our best to finish the work quickly. Our contractor company, our working friends and our team are trying to finish this place as quickly as possible by joining the day and night here. This is one of the jobs that I will be happiest when finished in 2023, perhaps in Istanbul. I hope that we will catch the days when we can enjoy this place together with my fellow citizens from Maltepe quickly. I wish success to everyone involved.”

THE FACE OF MALTEPE WILL CHANGE

With the underpass work to be carried out in the central area of Bagdat Street in Maltepe, vehicle traffic will be taken underground between Beach Yolu Street and Second Primary School Street. In this way, an uninterrupted transportation will be provided on the 1 kilometer long line. Maltepe will have a pedestrianized area of 25.000 square meters with the ongoing square arrangement. While the underpass works are being carried out, the infrastructure of the region is also being renewed. In this way, possible flooding in the region will be prevented.
