Who is Zekeriya Beyaz?

Zekeriya Beyaz, a religious man and academician, was born on March 1, 1938 in Gaziantep. He attended primary school in Gaziantep and completed his secondary and high school education in Kahramanmaraş Imam-Hatip High School. He started his higher education in his 30s and graduated from Istanbul Higher Islamic Institute in 1972.

After studying Imam-Hatip, he started to work as an imam in Nizip Ulu Mosque in 1963. He continued this duty for 14 years as Imam-Hatip, Preacher and Mufti under the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

He resigned from his duty in the Directorate of Religious Affairs in 1977 and worked as a freelance writer and columnist for some newspapers for many years. During this period, he started his master's degree at Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute and graduated from his master's degree in 1985 with his thesis named "Family Marriage According to Islamic Law and Turkish Civil Law".

Again in 1987, he completed his doctorate at the Institute of Social Sciences of Istanbul University with his doctoral thesis named "Family Life According to Islamic Law and Turkish Civil Law".

After completing his doctorate, Zekeriya Beyaz started his second job as a civil servant at Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute as a lecturer.

He received the title of associate professor in the field of sociology in 1991. After receiving the title of Professor, Beyaz was appointed as Professor of Sociology of Religion at Istanbul University Faculty of Theology in 1999. A year later, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Marmara University, and he continued this duty until 2003.

Zekeriya Beyaz, who was appointed to the Faculty of Theology at Istanbul University in 2003, retired from the age limit on March 1, 2005. Zekeriya Beyaz, who published and worked on many books, was married and had 5 children.
