The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has started the countdown for the Turkey Kart (TRKart) Project. The introduction of a transportation card valid throughout Turkey has been on the agenda for years. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure took an important step in the project related to the card. The card, which will be tested in Konya in June, will then spread to 81 provinces.
The meeting of all city cards on a single card in Turkey has been the demand of both citizens and drivers for years. The project on this subject became official after intense work.
Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Announced Details
In the report sent by the Ministry to the commission on 22 March, it was stated that the studies regarding the TRKart Project are continuing for the "development of a national e-payment system that can be used in all transportation vehicles throughout the country" and "establishment of a settlement center". In the report, which stated that a common payment infrastructure will be established for the entire public with the project, and that it will be used not only on card but also on digital platforms, it is stated that "It is evaluated that thanks to the system, different solution partnerships can be made in accordance with the requirements of the era and meet the needs of the public."
First Test in Konya in June
On the other hand, the report drew attention to the fact that the first test will be carried out in Konya, and the words "Kernel developments have been completed, it is aimed that the developments to be made by the PTT will be completed in May 2022 and the tests will start in June 2022".
Includes Metro and Marmaray
While it was stated that TRKart application will be started on Gayrettepe Metro and Marmaray lines, which were put into service in order to solve the traffic problem of Istanbul, it was stated that "It is aimed to complete the works in August 2022 and start the test studies".
