Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has prepared Strategic Noise Maps and Action Plan for a more peaceful and livable city. In this context, the noise levels of entertainment venues, industrial facilities, roads and railways in Samsun and the residential areas exposed to this noise will be determined.
Purpose of the study; To ensure that the necessary measures are taken to ensure that the peace and tranquility, physical and mental health of people are not deteriorated as a result of exposure to environmental noise. The data obtained from the study will help prevent noise problems that may occur in the future. Noise problems will be identified and viable action plans will be created to reduce them. It will provide a basis for planning criteria in order to preserve the current situation of places with good environmental noise quality. A long-term strategy will be developed that includes targets to reduce the noise level to which the number of people affected by noise is exposed.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir made a statement regarding the Strategic Noise Maps and Action Plan project. President Demir said, “In Turkey, more emphasis is placed on the pollution of the environment, sea and water. We, as the Metropolitan Municipality, are implementing the Noise Action Plan, an issue that is at least as important as these. The process of preparing 'strategic noise maps' covers approximately 160 km of highways, 6 km of existing railway lines, 65 km of light rail systems, 60 entertainment centers and 2 industrial sites. We attach great importance to this work. We will make the determinations and produce the necessary solutions.”
President Demir said that they aim for a happier and more peaceful city; “Noise pollution is very important in human life. If you are constantly exposed to noise throughout your life, you may also be exposed to very serious physical and psychological disorders. We plan to completely eliminate them,” he said.
