Police Veteran 45 Athletes Compete for First Place in Air Pistol Range

Murat Akkaya came first, Mehmet Açıkdaş second, and Mehmet Begin third in the shooting competition held on the occasion of the 177th anniversary of the establishment of the police force.

As part of the 177th anniversary activities of the police force, an air pistol shooting competition was held.

The final shootings of the air pistol competitions were held at the Martyr Mustafa Yavaş Archery and Air Pistol Range in the Gölbaşı campus of the General Directorate of Security Special Operations, in cooperation with the Special Operations Directorate, the Social Services and Health Department and the Veterans Disabled Sports Club.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Veterans Disabled Sports Club Vice President Aydın Şendere thanked by stating that they met all the needs of the Special Operations Directorate and the Social Services and Health Department in the competitions they started with 45 veterans.

Ayşegül Özcan, Head of the Social Services and Health Department of the General Directorate of Security, explained that many events were organized this week within the scope of the 177th anniversary of the police organization, and the said event was held for this purpose.

Expressing that they organize similar events on April 10 and Veterans Day every year, Özcan: The important thing is to motivate and adapt our veterans to social life and to get them out of their homes. We started and will continue to do these sports activities so that they can be a healing activity for their trauma. We aim to include all our veterans in Turkey in these organizations," he said.

Özcan said that they will present their gifts and medals to the winners on April 10.

At the end of the final shots held after the speeches, Murat Akkaya came first, Mehmet Açıkdaş second, Mehmet Like third and Murat Tekin fourth.

The winner of the tournament, Murat Akkaya, expressed that the veterans came together to concentrate more on social life and thanked the organizers of the event.

After the shootings, all veterans participating in the tournament were given certificates by the Head of Special Operations Selami Türker, the Head of Veterans Disabled Sports Club, retired police special operations veteran Ömer Kula, and the Head of Social Services and Health Department Ayşegül Özcan.
