Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu met with Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro construction site employees at iftar. Minister Karaismailoğlu gave the good news, "And God willing, with the completion of the signaling and system safety tests, we will be proud to present this project to the service of Istanbulites in August at the latest."
Speaking at the program, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “We are proud of completing the construction works in a part of the city where working and ground conditions are difficult, from the beginning of the project until today, with our devoted and successful works. We have now brought our project to the level of 98 percent progress. As of today, we have completed 14 thousand 536 meters of rail installation and rail welding. Within the framework of the project, we completed the tunnel construction works by digging a total of 15 thousand 970 meters of tunnels. We have completed the construction works and finishing works in 4 stations. We brought electromechanical manufacturing to 95 percent. We started testing and commissioning of metro test drives and electromechanical systems. I hope that with the completion of the signaling and system safety tests, we will put this project into the service of Istanbulites in August at the latest.
70 thousand passengers per hour
When the project is completed, a flight will be organized every 2 minutes during peak hours. 70 passengers per hour will be transported. Fevzi Çakmak Hospital, Yayalar Şeyhli, Kurtköy and Sabiha Gökçen Airport stations will be located on the route. Citizens will also be able to reach Marmara University Training and Research Hospital from Fevzi Çakmak station.

Thus, it will be possible to reach both our airport and the northern neighborhoods of our Pendik districts directly. With the commissioning of the line; Travel time between Pendik Tavşantepe – Sabiha Gökçen Airport is 10 minutes, travel time between Istanbul Anadolu Courthouse – Sabiha Gökçen Airport is 12 minutes, Kadıköy – Travel time between Fevzi Çakmak (Hospital) is 42 minutes, Kadıköy - Travel time between Sabiha Gökçen Airport is 50 minutes.
