There was a bigger hike in natural gas. Pipelines Petroleum Transport Corporation (BOTAŞ) announced the natural gas wholesale price tariff for April 2022 on its website. According to the last-minute statement made by BOTAŞ, the sales price of natural gas used for electricity generation increased by 44,30 percent, the sales price of natural gas used outside of electricity generation increased by 50 percent and the sales price of natural gas used in residences increased by 35 percent.
*As it is known, natural gas is an imported energy source, and more than 99% of it is supplied from foreign supply sources within the framework of international agreements.
*It is well known by the public that since the beginning of 2021, consumers in the world and European energy markets are exposed to exorbitant energy prices due to the extraordinary and extraordinary fluctuations in the markets, and the high energy prices experienced all over the world have not been reflected to our consumers at the same rate until today.
*However, despite the increasing costs, our state provided support to our consumers at the rate of 76% during this period.
*On the other hand, according to the Home Energy Price Index (HEPI-Household Energy Price Index), natural gas with the lowest price among European countries is used in residences in our country.
Increased Prices Effective April 1, 2022
*As of April 1, 2022, it has become necessary to make a regulation in natural gas sales prices in a way that will affect our consumers at the minimum level within the framework of possibilities. In this context, effective from 1 April 2022;
- 44,30% in the selling price of natural gas used for electricity generation
- 50% in the selling price of natural gas used other than electricity generation
- The sales price of the natural gas used in the residences has been increased by 35%, and despite this increase, our State will continue to provide 70% support for each cubic meter of natural gas used in the residences.
