Presidential Candidacy Statement by Mansur Yavaş

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş spoke clearly. Yavaş, whose name was mentioned for candidacy in the presidential elections, said, "I am not involved in politics, I see myself as a public servant."

Ümit Özdağ, who resigned from the IYI Party and founded the Victory Party, made a statement a few days ago that they would support the candidacy of Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş in the presidential elections.

On the other hand, the claims regarding the candidacy were rejected from the Mansur Yavaş front, and it was stated that the duties brought by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality would continue to be fulfilled.

Yavaş's visit to IYI Party Chairman Meral Akşener today created a stir in the backstage. Making a statement after the meeting, Yavaş said:

I never comment on such things. According to my understanding of municipality, a mayor should only do his duty from the moment he is elected. He should neither speak out against political parties, nor the leaders of political parties, nor should he interfere in their internal affairs. He must do his job.

Before I was elected, I made a promise: "We do not see those who do not vote for us as the enemy, we will not be victorious if we win the elections"... I continue that stance. I try to serve equally, embracing everyone, without separating anyone.

In the meantime, we sometimes witness the speeches of political opponents, but I did not break that line. I will never answer because I am not in politics. I see myself as a public servant. I will continue this way. Disclosures are without my consent. I'm at my job too.
