Welcomed by Air Forces Commander General Hasan Küçükakyüz, Minister Akar moved to the Air Forces Command Operations Center with his accompanying TAF Command Level.
Minister Akar, who received a briefing on the air operation against terrorist targets in northern Iraq, held a video teleconference meeting with the Combat Air Force Operations Center.
Receiving information about the latest situation in the air operation, Minister Akar said, “Our Hero Turkish Armed Forces launched the Claw-Lock Operation against terrorist targets in order to prevent terrorist attacks against our people and security forces from the north of Iraq and to ensure our border security.” he said.
Stating that targets belonging to the terrorist organization were under heavy fire within the scope of the operation, Minister Akar said:
“In the operation carried out within the scope of the prepared plan, terrorist targets in Metina, Zap and Avaşin-Basyan regions were first fired by our air forces. Our heroic pilots successfully hit targets consisting of shelters, bunkers, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots and so-called headquarters belonging to the terrorist organization. The targets determined by Fırtına, MLRA and other artillery elements were heavily fired and hit with full accuracy. Our Hero Commandos and Bordeaux Berets, supported by our ATAK helicopters, UAVs and SİHAs, infiltrated the region by infiltrating the land and by air attack operation. So far, our operation continues successfully as planned. The targets set in the first phase have been achieved.”

Minister of National Defense Akar also spoke over the radio with the pilots who participated in the air operation carried out within the scope of Operation Claw-Lock.
