TRNC Reaches New Service Building in Istanbul with the Space Allocation of IMM

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which did not reject the request from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Consulate General in Istanbul, allocated an area of approximately 1000 square meters in Şişli Mecidiyeköy to “Cub Vatan”. Inauguration of TRNC Istanbul Consulate General Service Building, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, Istanbul Garrison Commander Lieutenant General Kemal Yeni, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and KKTC Istanbul Consul General Seniha Birand Çınar. Making the first speech at the ceremony held for the opening, Consul General Çınar thanked İBB President İmamoğlu for the allocation of space.

İMAMOĞLU: “WE ARE PROUD OF OFFERING THIS AREA TO TRNC'S USE”

Stating that he wishes the service building to provide the best services to the people of the TRNC, İmamoğlu said:

“This is a more comfortable, more accurate spot. As IMM, when our Consul General conveyed this need to us, from the first day to the last, we made an effort to find out where the right spot would be, including different searches. We are proud to offer this area, an area of approximately one thousand square meters, for their own use, keeping in the forefront of safety, other aspects, ease of work, ease of access, and everything else. Because the TRNC, together with its historical ties, brotherhood and some historical moments, is a very important issue of the motherland, so to speak, it is a country, a state that we describe as the 'Children's Homeland', where its eyes are always there. Therefore, the Republic of Turkey, as the guarantor state, will always stand by the TRNC and be the most important stakeholder in its struggle.”

“TO PROVIDE SUCH A SERVICE FROM ISTANBUL TO TRNC WAS VALUABLE”

Expressing that the 17-19 age group spent 2 years in the TRNC as a student and athlete, İmamoğlu stated that for this reason, he had the opportunity to get to know almost every part of the country. İmamoğlu shared the information that the founding President of the TRNC Rauf Denktaş's house in Istanbul is also in Beylikdüzü. He stated that they designed a TRNC Monument and Cyprus Square, with the approval of the late Denktaş's wife and family, during his term as District Mayor. "I was proud to build a valuable monument in Beylikdüzü, where the history of the TRNC is told, the struggle there, the mujahideen, the Cyprus Peace Operation and our precious veterans, and how we gave martyrs," said İmamoğlu. It also makes me proud that the days are held there after that date. In this context, as a person with such a deep bond, it was very valuable to meet with me once again to offer such a service from Istanbul to the TRNC during his term as IMM President. It has been very valuable.”

"LIVE THE TRNC FOREVER"

Stating that his contacts with TRNC local administrations based on sharing of experience continue, İmamoğlu said, “When TRNC is mentioned, of course we cannot pass without mentioning Doctor Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş. Great fighting people. Rauf Denktaş, a very valuable person of the 70s, 80s and even 90s, I can say that we all have a face and an expression in our household after that determined diplomatic stance initiated by Fazıl Küçük. We remember both of them with mercy and gratitude. Both of them were very important people of struggle in terms of Turkish history. I think that every society needs people and leaders who are so determined, faithful and who protect their values, who keep the interests of the society ahead of everything, but who have universal values, education and negotiation skills at the same time. After commemorating them with mercy and gratitude, I wish mercy especially to the mujahideen who lost their lives during and before the Cyprus Peace Operation, and to our precious martyrs. My condolences to our veterans who lost their lives. Today, I wish health, well-being and enjoyment to our veterans who are standing tall again. I hope that the days and dates when the support of the Republic of Turkey is felt to be with them in the TRNC process, listening to its people there, thinking with the people there, negotiating and making the right decision, will never end and the TRNC will live forever," he said.

YERLIKAYA: “TRNC HAS A MODERN BUILDING”

Istanbul Governor Yerlikaya said, “The TRNC is our own homeland, every inch of which is watered with the blood of our martyrs, and whose price has been paid with their lives,” and started his speech by commemorating the symbolic names of the TRNC, Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş. Stating that the TRNC will exist forever as an independent country, Yerlikaya said, “I commemorate with mercy and gratitude our late Prime Ministers Bülent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan, who showed the will and power of our nation against those who meant our existence on the island. Thanks to the support of IMM, our Consulate General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has this modern building in the center of our Istanbul, which its visitors can easily reach. I believe that our Consulate General will be able to provide services in a much more modern and efficient manner in this new building.”
