Kayseri Aircraft Factory Book Introduced

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç continues to contribute to the social and cultural texture of the city while carrying out the structural reconstruction of the city. In this context, the introduction ceremony of the Kayseri Aircraft Factory Book, which has been newly added to the cultural inventory of the Metropolitan Municipality, was held with the participation of Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defense.

Within the scope of the book promotion ceremony held at the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory, Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç accompanied by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Chief of General Staff General Yaşar Güler, Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever, Air Forces Commander General Aydoğan Babaoğlu, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal, Governor Şehmus Günaydın, Garrison Commander Brigadier General Haldun Taşan, previous term Energy and Natural Resources Ministers, AK Party Kayseri Deputy Taner Yıldız, AK Party Kayseri Deputy İsmail Emrah Karayel, İsmail Tamer, AK Party Provincial Chairman Şaban Çopuroğlu, MHP Provincial President Adnan İncetoprak, Chief Public Prosecutor Abdulkadir Akın, Erciyes University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çalış, Rector of Kayseri University Prof. Dr. Kurtulus Karamustafa, district mayors, representatives of non-governmental organizations, relatives of martyrs and veterans gathered for iftar.

Mayor Büyükkılıç, who has published 36 books and 24 magazines during his term as the Metropolitan Municipality, continues to contribute to the city by publishing the book about the Kayseri Aircraft Factory, the milestone of aviation history, and also acts as an instrument in enlightening the society. The promotion ceremony of the book, which was published in this context, started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. At the beginning of the ceremony, the editor of the book, Erciyes University Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Neslihan Altuncuoğlu gave information about the Kayseri Aircraft Factory Book.

“SO KAYSERİ IS A STRATEGIC PLACE”

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. In his speech, Memduh Büyükkılıç pointed out that the decision to establish an aircraft factory in Kayseri at a time when there was no electricity, roads and railways was an indication that Kayseri was a strategic place:

“When we decided to carry out this meaningful work in line with the instructions and recommendations of our esteemed minister, it was the pandemic period. In the pandemic period, contemplation sometimes works, research works. In this understanding, a work emerged. I would like to thank our precious teacher Neslihan and her team especially, I would like to thank our rector. They helped us. Of course, various studies were carried out during this process. 1920's. There is no electricity in our Kayseri. Our Republic was established. Later, upon the instructions of the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a decision was made to establish the Airplane Factory in a city like Kayseri, with the name it was then. We don't have a straight road, we don't have a train track. In such a process, after this agreement with Germany, the port of Iskenderun is reached, these materials are brought from there to Niğde Ulukışla for the purpose of establishing the Airplane Factory, then the parts of this factory are brought to Kayseri with camels, oxcarts, donkeys and so on. The decision to establish a factory is made. This means that Kayseri is a strategic city since it has been decided to establish a factory here.”

“WE RECOMMEND THAT KAYSERİ IS NOT FORGET”

Underlining that Kayseri undertook an important role in both defense and industrialization in the said years, President Büyükkılıç expressed his wish for Kayseri not to be forgotten, and said: We recommend that ' not be forgotten, in his new words. This is the first. We did not have a second point railway, in the later period, in the years 1927-28, our railway was brought in at that time, after a contractor from Kayseri took the tender with his efforts and foresight. In the following period, the factory known as Sümerbank Cloth Factory was established in the 1930s, I mean in the context of turning points, and factories such as Sugar Factory, Birlik Mensucat etc. in 1955 with these developments. Why am I saying this, our 3 organized industries, which we describe as the industrial center in Kayseri, our 4th organization is on the way, and our 5th greenhouse organization is on the way. I say this in order to emphasize that the Aircraft Factory, which was established here, is the origin of around 800 industrial establishments, together with our Technopark and of course our Free Zone, and that it almost has the quality of a school. Within this understanding, in a process where around 200 planes, also known as the planes that were exported and contributed to the establishment of this Airplane Factory, which constitutes a fundamental element of Kayseri in a way, were built, our Turkey, thankfully, has reached the point of unmanned aerial vehicles and is at a good point. In the context of getting its share from this defense industry, I remind you that Kayseri should not be forgotten, I offer love and respect to all of you, I wish you a blessed Ramadan, and I wish you to be entrusted to Allah”.

“WE ARE JUSTIFIED PRIDE OF WINNING THE BOOK THAT SHINES THE HISTORY OF AVIATION”

Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, in his speech in which he expressed his pride in bringing the book, which sheds light on the aviation history of our country and Kayseri, to the world of culture and science, said, “It is a great pleasure to be with you on the occasion of iftar and the presentation of the work called Kayseri Aircraft Factory, which sheds light on the aviation history of our country and Kayseri. I hear your satisfaction. He thanked those who contributed to the writing and printing of the book, saying, "We are proud of bringing another work to our culture and science world in our beautiful country, Kayseri, which is a pioneer in industry, trade, tourism and education, and many other fields.

Erciyes University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çalış, on the other hand, stated that it was not a coincidence that the first aircraft factory in Turkey was opened in Kayseri and mentioned that the factory is a symbol of farsightedness.

In the book promotion event, the delegation, which included Minister Akar and accompanied by President Büyükkılıç, visited the exhibition where photographs of the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate from the past to the present are exhibited. At the end of the program, the delegation attended the fast-breaking dinner at the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate.
