Capital Markets Board management has changed. İbrahim Ömer Gönül, son of former Minister of National Defense Vecdi Gönül, was appointed to replace CMB Chairman Ali Fuat Taşkesenlioğlu.

The appointment decision regarding the Capital Markets Board was published in the Official Gazette. İbrahim Ömer Gönül, son of former Minister of National Defense Vecdi Gönül, was appointed to replace CMB Chairman Ali Fuat Taşkesenlioğlu. On the other hand, Mutalip Ünal was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Board and Yusuf Sünbül as a member.

Ali Fuat Taşkesenlioğlu shared a farewell message saying that he had completed his term of office. In the message he shared on social media, Taşkesenlioğlu used the following expressions;

As of today, I have completed my term as the Chairman of the Capital Markets Board, which I started on April 1-17, 2018.

In the past 4 years, I have the inner peace of working with all our efforts to increase the share of capital markets in our economy, to deepen and enrich our markets, to observe and protect investor rights.

I would like to express my gratitude to all our ministers and colleagues, especially our Honorable President, who have made us worthy of this task and contributed to our country's economy. Greetings, prayers and regards.

WHO IS İBRAHİM OMER GÖNÜL?

He was born in 1973 in Ankara. He completed his secondary education at Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School, his undergraduate education at Bilkent University, Department of Economics, and his master's degree at Atılım University, Department of Business Administration.

He started his career at Şekerbank TAŞ. and worked as a money markets assistant and expert in the Fund Management department. He started to work at the Capital Markets Board in 2004 and worked in the Institutional Investors Department. After serving as Personnel Manager and Deputy Head of Department, he was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Board in 2014. While continuing this duty, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Capital Markets Board on April 18, 2022.
