Ankara Metropolitan Municipality participated as a gold sponsor in the 74th Geology Congress organized by the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) Chamber of Geological Engineers this year.
The opening ceremony of the congress held at Ankara Mineral Research and Exploration General Directorate Cultural Site (MTA) was attended by ABB Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department Head Mutlu Gürler and Cultural and Natural Heritage Department Head Bekir Ödemiş, as well as 74th Turkey Geology Congress President Prof. Dr. Gürol Seyitoğlu, TMMOB Chamber of Geological Engineers Chairman Hüseyin Alan, MTA General Manager Vedat Yanık, AFAD President Governor Yunus Sezer and TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Prof. Dr. Şeref Kalaycı also attended.
MAIN THEME: ''NATURAL DISASTERS''
While many national and international companies participated in the congress, whose main theme this year was determined as "Natural Disasters" and will continue until April 15, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also opened a booth.
Mutlu Gürler, Head of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department, who was presented with a plaque on behalf of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, announced that they will present 11 scientific articles at the congress as the Metropolitan Municipality:
“In this year's scientific event, as Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department, we wanted to contribute, be involved, share our work, announce our activities, and benefit from professional experiences in academic studies in different institutions that produce knowledge and experience in this field. In this event, with 11 scientific article presentations both at the opening and in separate sessions, different professional groups within our department will make presentations on different article titles on urban location selections and the establishment of resistant cities against disaster risks. We chose to be one of the main sponsors of the congress as a result of the great support it gave to its community. We thank our President Mansur Yavaş, the Geological Engineering Presidency and the Organizing Committee of the Congress for giving us this opportunity.”
Mutlu Gürler, Head of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department, will also make a presentation at the congress, giving information about scientific studies on combating natural disasters.
