Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Focus on the German Market

Fresh fruit and vegetable exporters went to the Berlin Fruit Logistica Fair held in Germany on April 5-7, 2022 in order to increase their exports to Germany. Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association participated with a 22 square meter info stand.

Saying, “We need alternative markets more than ever, since Russia and Ukraine, which are my biggest export markets, are at war,” Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Aircraft expressed that they want to increase their power in the German market.

Explaining that they exported 2020 million dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables to Germany in 250, President Plane said, “Our fresh fruit and vegetable exports to Germany increased by 2021 percent in 15 to 288 million dollars. The fact that 3,5 million Turks live in Germany makes Germany even more attractive for us. We believe that we can reach the export level of 10 billion dollars at the end of 1 years with the promotions we will make to Germany”.

Stating that fresh fruit and vegetable companies participated in the Berlin Fruit Logistica Fair, Uçar continued as follows; “Many of our fresh fruit and vegetable exporter companies, especially from the Aegean and Mediterranean Regions, participated in the fair at the National Participation Organization of the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations or at their individual stands. While 2 thousand 18 companies participated in the fair in total, the number of Turkish companies became 43. As the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association Board of Directors, we visited the stands of Turkish companies. The quality of the visitors made our exhibitors very satisfied. The first contacts of new export connections were made.”

Stating that they collected the purchase requests from the importer companies in order to share them with the exporting companies and that they would share them with the exporting companies, Uçar said, on the first day of the fair, Berlin Commercial Counselors Berrak Bilgen Besergil and Abdullah Soylu, and on the second day, Turkey's Berlin Ambassador Mr. Ahmet Başar Şen and Consul General Mr. Rıfkı. He added that Olgun Yücekök had visited them.

The Germans liked our cherries the most

While Turkey exported 2021 million dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables to Germany in 288, the most preferred product of the Germans was cherries with an amount of 88 million dollars. While black figs were exported to Germany for 27 million dollars, pomegranate took the third place with 18 million dollars. While our fresh tomato exports amounted to 17 million dollars, 15 million dollars of foreign exchange income was obtained from the export of green peppers to Germany.
