Reşat Oyal Culture Park Urban Design and Open Air Theater Idea Project was prepared within the scope of the works of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality to modernize the Reşat Oyal Culture Park, which has been serving the people of Bursa for 67 years, according to today's conditions. Participating in the presentation meeting of the prepared project, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said, "We are trying to rejuvenate the body, which has undergone many surgeries so far, and adapt it to the conditions of the day."
Reşat Oyal Culture Park, which was built on an area of 391 thousand square meters by the Mayor of Bursa at the time, Reşat Oyal and opened in 1955, is getting ready to get rid of the tiredness of the years. While some arrangements made according to the needs over time remove the park from aesthetic appearance, it is aimed to produce permanent and sustainable solutions, not instantaneous, to problems such as the lack of parking, vehicle traffic in the park, pedestrian roads, lighting and worn urban furniture. Aiming to deal with Kültür Park with a holistic plan, the Metropolitan Municipality put the common mind into action and held workshops with the business officials operating in Kültür Park, students studying in the relevant units of the universities and non-governmental organizations. Again, a public survey was conducted to determine the expectations, complaints and suggestions of citizens. Reşat Oyal Culture Park Urban Design and Open Air Theater Idea Project was prepared by blending both the workshops and the results of the survey.
Natural texture is getting stronger
Architect Ömer Selçuk Baz, who prepared the concept project, shared the details of the project with the parties at the meeting held at the Metropolitan Municipality Assembly Hall. In addition to the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, the owners of the business in the park, university students participating in the workshops, representatives of the relevant academic chambers, academicians from Uludağ University and Bursa Technical University, representatives of relevant public institutions and non-governmental organizations, and bureaucrats of the Metropolitan Municipality attended the meeting. Architect Ömer Selçuk Baz, who stated that they work by putting the strengthening of the natural texture at the center of the project, stated that they foresee reducing the structural use by 30 percent, increasing the pedestrian bike lanes by 65 percent, reducing the vehicle roads by 70 percent, increasing the parking lot capacity by 10 percent and increasing the water element by 15 percent. .
We must go to the immediate conclusion
Speaking after the presentation, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that it is imperative that Kültür Park, which has been serving Bursa residents for 67 years, should be designed according to today's conditions. President Aktaş said, “We are trying to rejuvenate the body, which has undergone many surgeries so far, and adapt it to the conditions of the day. This is no easy task. The subject may differ for everyone, so there will be no clear truth. Kultur Park, in my opinion, is one of the parks in Turkey that is so old that it can still be saved. It is still very green and beautiful. With the nostalgia of this, we do not throw our hands so that the happy few can enjoy. Kultur Park is really precious for Bursa. Bursa residents have very serious memories. Non-governmental organizations have venues. There are cafes with different functions. We are working on how we can create a Cultural Park that everyone will enjoy when it is finished. Let's accept the fact that this work is not a blessing, but a necessity. We want the process to proceed with a general agreement. If we don't do something, if we don't take a radical decision, I don't see that the end of things is very auspicious. In any case, we need to do what we can and go to the immediate result. We need to start the process. Hopefully, a good result will come out and we will reach a conclusion as soon as possible," he said.
