EGO General Directorate continues to work on integrating environmental-friendly transportation modes into public transportation services. The pilot project for the establishment of an electric bike sharing system in Ankara was recently implemented with the European Union EIT grant project. In the pilot project; By using electric bicycles in accordance with the topography of Ankara, bicycle charging stations have been positioned to be integrated into the metro network in locations where city mobility is intense.

Electric bikes being tested by professional cyclists

As a result of the cooperation with the Ankara City Council, the system, which is currently only available to professional cyclists operating within the City Council, will be offered to the people of Ankara after the necessary tests.

EGO General Directorate, which attaches utmost importance to implement its projects as pilot projects in order to use public resources effectively and efficiently in bicycle transportation investments made throughout the city, and to invest in the light of the data obtained from the project; will determine the optimal usage network and usage capacity of the electric bike sharing system with the data obtained from the test process.

Ankara residents get 408 electric bikes

After the test process, the tender for 408 electric bicycles, which can be used by citizens throughout the city through the mobile application, is expected to be completed by June and the contracts are expected to be signed. The electric bike sharing system, which will be established with the SMART Ankara Project, is planned to be available to the people of Ankara until the end of 2022.
