Yapı Merkezi Laid the Groundwork for the 3rd Stage of the YHT Project in Tanzania

Yapı Merkezi will be the longest and the fastest train line in East Africa, constructed by a Turkish contractor in Africa. .

The groundbreaking ceremony held in Tabora was attended by Tanzanian Minister of Labor and Transport Prof. Makame M. Mbrawa, Tabora District Governor, Dr. Batilda Buriani, Tanzania Ambassador to Turkey Mehmet Güllüoğlu, Tanzania Ankara Ambassador Lieutenant General Yacoub Mohamed, Tanzania Railways Chairman of the Board Prof. John W. Kondoro, Tanzania Railways CEO Masanja Kadogosa, Yapı Merkezi İnşaat Deputy Chairman Erdem Arıoğlu and Yapı Merkezi Holding CEO Aslan Uzun attended.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Erdem Arıoğlu said: “We are happy to have added a new one to the many successful projects we have realized so far in Africa. The meticulousness and work we have shown in the first two parts of the Dar es Salaam-Mwanza Railway, which is the longest train line in Africa and the fastest in East Africa, that we are realizing in Tanzania, by a Turkish contractor, stretching from Dar es Salaam to Makutupora, with a length of 722 km. Due to its quality, Tanzania Railways authorities entrusted us with the third phase of this very important railway line. Today, we are proudly carrying out the groundbreaking ceremony of the 3rd phase. Our greatest happiness is that we will contribute to the strengthening of our economy by providing a serious foreign currency inflow to our country with such a giant project.”

In addition to all the infrastructure works of the 3rd phase of the railway project in Tanzania, the construction of the 1.9 km long railway with a value of 368 billion dollars between the cities of Makutupora and Tabora, the construction of a total of 7 stations, the signaling, telecom and electrification works of the line are all turnkey. The project will be delivered in 46 months.
