Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to make the traffic more fluent and safe throughout the city. In this context, the preparation of Kocaeli City-wide Traffic Improvement Projects has begun.
6 INTERCHANGE IN 15 DISTRICTS IDENTIFIED
Within the scope of the preparation of Kocaeli City-wide Traffic Improvement projects by the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, 15 intersections with heavy traffic were determined in the districts of Izmit, Gebze, Darica, Kartepe, Başiskele and Çayırova. Geometric arrangement projects will be prepared in order to eliminate existing bottlenecks in road capacities and to use the capacity more effectively, to ensure lane balance and consistency in road connections, and to increase traffic fluidity at the 15 designated intersections.
COUNT WILL BE MADE AT PEAK HOURS
In addition, vehicle counts will be made at peak times of the day in order to determine pedestrian and vehicle traffic at intersections and cross-section points and to reach the most accurate design for the needs. Comparisons will be made between the micro-traffic simulations created by using the data obtained and alternative projects, and the project work will be completed by choosing the most suitable option.
