After the integration of the automatic fingerprint identification system used in the General Directorate of Security, Criminal Department, Gendarmerie General Command and 2 institutions, 196 thousand 852 incidents were clarified and the perpetrators were identified.
The fingerprint archive, which is kept thanks to the Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) used by the police, is used in terrorism, narcotic and public order incidents, as well as investigating unidentified corpses, disaster criminal investigation and detecting the real identities of people using fake IDs.
Fingerprint identification systems are also used within the Gendarmerie General Command, Criminal Department, General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and General Directorate of Migration Management.
After the integration of AFIS, which is used by the Criminal Department, and the fingerprint identification system of other institutions in 2019, many incidents were detected and clarified in a short time.
Trust in Evidence, Trust in the State
Nizam Kabar, Director of the Samsun Regional Criminal Police Laboratory, said that they are working as the Criminal Department of the General Directorate of Security to shed light on the incidents and to identify the perpetrators of the crime in a short time.
Stating that they benefit from all the possibilities of technology with the understanding of trust in evidence and trust in the state, Kabar said, "We are doing our best to adapt all the newly developing technology to our structure. In addition, in line with the instructions of Minister Süleyman Soylu, for the purpose of fingerprint data integration, data integration for the fingerprints of the General Directorate of Security Criminal Department, the Gendarmerie General Command Criminal Department, the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs and the General Directorate of Migration Management has been provided.
Noting that as a result of data integration, many incidents were clarified and their perpetrators were revealed in a very short time, Kabar said: "In particular, 3 thousand 430 incidents for terrorist incidents, 8 thousand 237 incidents for narcotic incidents, 149 thousand 260 incidents for public order incidents were clarified and the perpetrators were identified.
Clarification and identification of the perpetrators of 196 thousand 852 incidents, together with other crimes in total, were realized thanks to this integration. In addition, as a result of the DNA studies we have done on blood, saliva and body fluids of biological samples whose identity is not known at the crime scene, and the integration of data kept for the same purpose in the gendarmerie, we have contributed to the clarification of the unsolved incidents and the connection of the incidents with each other by establishing the connection of approximately 23 findings. .
Kabar added that with the provision of these data integrations, it is possible to clarify the incidents in a much shorter time and to identify the perpetrators in the fight against crime.
