The Turkish Armed Forces continues the Claw-Lock Operation, which was launched from the ground and air as of last night, against terrorist targets in the Metina, Zap and Avaşin-Basyan regions in northern Iraq.
The Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, who followed the air operation carried out within the scope of the operation from the Air Force Operations Center, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff General Yaşar Güler, the Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever, the Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal and the Air Forces Commander General Hasan Küçükakyüz. He took command.
Following the air attack operation carried out within the scope of the Claw-Lock Operation at the Operations Center, Minister Akar received information about the latest situation in the field and held a video teleconference meeting with the commanders of the units participating in the operation.
Stating that Operation Claw-Lock was launched in order to eliminate terrorist attacks from northern Iraq and to ensure border security, Minister Akar said:
“Following the long preparation and coordination, we have started Operation Claw-Lock as of yesterday evening. As of now, all of the planned targets have been achieved. Our friends successfully completed their mission. The shelters, bunkers, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots and so-called headquarters of the terrorists were destroyed with great success by air operations and fire support vehicles.
Our Hero Commandos and Bordeaux Berets, supported by our ATAK helicopters, UAVs and SİHAs, arrived in the region by air attack and infiltrating from the land and captured the determined targets. A large number of terrorists were neutralized. Our search and scanning activities continue. We expect the number to increase further in the coming hours and days.”
OPERATION CONTINUES SUCCESSFULLY AS PLANNED
“The operation, in which our Land, Naval and Air Force elements participated, continues successfully as planned.” Making a statement, Minister Akar continued as follows:
“Our activities continue with determination, as before, in order to save our country and our nation from the terror scourge that has plagued our country and our nation for 40 years. Our activities are carried out in a way that respects the territorial integrity and sovereign rights of friendly and brotherly Iraq. Our only target is terrorists. Our main goal is to neutralize the terrorists who are attempting to attack our country and our borders. As always, we showed maximum sensitivity to ensure that civilians, the environment, cultural and religious structures are not harmed in any way while planning and carrying out this operation. In this operation, we continue our activities by being extremely careful and sensitive in this regard. The breath of the Mehmetçik is on the back of the terrorists. Our activities will continue with determination until the last terrorist is neutralized in order to eliminate terrorist nests as soon as possible. “
Emphasizing that the Mehmetçik fulfilled the duties assigned to him with great heroism and self-sacrifice, Minister Akar wished success to the personnel involved in Operation Claw-Lock.
Minister Akar, accompanied by the TAF Command Level, followed the Claw-Lock Operation at the Operations Center until the first light of the morning.
