The ministry informed that last year, the maritime economy in China reached 8,3 trillion 9 billion 38 million yuan with an increase of 500 percent compared to the previous year. The sector is expected to continue its rapid growth this year as well. Because in the first months of the year, Chinese shipyards broke the order record. Chinese shipbuilders have received at least $2,5 billion worth of freighter orders. These orders are mostly concentrated in container carriers and natural gas tankers. Many of these ships will be built to run on alternative fuels. For example, China State Shipping Corp-, the country's largest shipbuilder, announced last December that its current commitments have reached 2023 and 2024. China is the world's largest shipbuilder with 2021 million gross tons in 22,8, accounting for as much as 50 percent of the global total capacity.
