JAK Team is Ready for Duty with Trainings in Difficult Conditions in Kartalkaya

The Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) team, working in Kartalkaya Ski Center, one of Turkey's most important winter tourism centers, is preparing for duty by undergoing training under difficult conditions.

JAK Team works on a 35/7 basis under difficult conditions at the ski resort located between Istanbul and Ankara, at the summit of the Köroğlu Mountains, 24 kilometers from the city center.

The JAK team, which does not disrupt their training, conducts drills at certain times in order to be able to respond to incidents such as injury, disappearance and being stranded as quickly as possible.

In this context, the exercise carried out to rescue 3 people trapped in the chairlift did not match the reality.

According to the scenario, 3 people who were stranded as a result of the malfunction of the chairlift they were on while skiing, called the Kartalkaya Gendarmerie Station and asked for help.

Upon the warning, the teams reached the region where the snow thickness was approximately 3 meters and the air temperature was 5 degrees below zero with off-road vehicles.

3 people trapped in the chairlift were rescued by the teams.

The 3 rescued people were offered tea by the JAK Team to warm them up.
