Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, the program opened for application today, from his social media account, "We are determined to bring the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles to our country. Today, we opened the 1.560 million TL grant program for the establishment of high-speed charging stations in 300 different points of Turkey. Good luck to our investors!” evaluated with his message.

IT WILL INCREASE FAST

In order to achieve the targeted rapid expansion of electric vehicles in Turkey, it is of great importance that the fast charging infrastructure reaches a minimum level in all regions. In parallel with the growth of the electric vehicle stock in the coming years, there should be a rapid increase in the number of charging stations.

APPLICATIONS STARTED

From this point of view, the Ministry of Industry and Technology launched the "Fast Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles Grant Program" in order to encourage fast charging station investment. As of today, a grant will be given to the installation of a fast charging station with the support program put into use. With the grant support with a total budget of 300 million TL, fast charging stations will be installed at 81 points in 560 provinces. Investors will be able to receive support from the program up to 250 thousand lira per station. A plus 20 percent support will be given to domestically made units. Applications to the program will continue until June 15, 2022. Investors can apply to the program at sarjdestek.sanayi.gov.tr.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE PROJECTION

In the Mobility Vehicles and Technologies Roadmap prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, General Directorate of National Technology with the contribution of relevant public institutions and sector actors, a projection including 3 different scenarios for the development of electric vehicles in Turkey, as low, medium and high, was created.

In the medium scenario, it is predicted that the annual sales of electric vehicles will be 120 and the stock of electric vehicles will be 270 thousand. In the low scenario, it is estimated that the annual sales of electric vehicles will be around 65 thousand and the stock of electric vehicles will be around 160 thousand.

According to the 2030 projection, the projections were as follows: In the high scenario, annual electric vehicle sales are 580, in the medium scenario annual electric vehicle sales are 2,5 thousand, in the low scenario annual electric vehicle sales are 420 thousand. , electric vehicle stock is 1,6 thousand units.

DEVELOPMENT PLAN

In addition to all these, under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, with the active participation of the relevant public institutions, especially the Energy Market Regulatory Authority and the Turkish Standards Institute, and with the intense contribution of the private sector, legislation for electric vehicle charging infrastructure for Turkey, A comprehensive plan consisting of topics such as standards and supports was prepared.

LEGISLATION INFRASTRUCTURE

As a result of the studies carried out, a legislative infrastructure was created that will ensure the development of the charging industry in an efficient and sustainable structure under free market conditions. With the Law No. 7346 and the Electricity Market Law No. 6446, the legal framework for charging services was established. Accordingly, charging service activities have been made subject to license and certificate, according to the legislation, the details of which have been clarified with the regulation published by EMRA.

NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The transformation in the global arena will further strengthen the position of the automotive industry in Turkey. The increase in the number and prevalence of electric vehicles will lead the technology ecosystem and innovation, and create export opportunities for startups. Electric vehicles will be popularized in order to create an accelerating effect in the field of innovation in the automotive industry.

AN INDUSTRY IS BORN

With the introduction of electric vehicles, a new sector has emerged. It is estimated that the charging station industry, which is still at the beginning of its development, will turn into a large industry in 2030, where more than 1,5 thousand charging sockets, which were established with an investment of approximately 165 billion dollars, are operated. In addition to its size, the charging station sector is also important in terms of its potential impact on the automotive industry. The sector, which will have a decisive effect on consumer preferences, will affect the competition in the automotive market and accelerate the transition to electric vehicles.
