The opening of the Museum of Islamic Civilizations in the Büyük Çamlıca Mosque Complex was made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who attended the opening ceremony, stated that Turkey has brought an important work of art with the Great Camlica Mosque.

Ersoy stated that the deficiencies of the Büyük Çamlıca Mosque have been completed together with the museum and said, “We are removing our mosque from being just a place of worship. We ensure that it also serves as a culture and art center. In this context, we owe our gratitude to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the museums of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, especially our National Palaces. The important thing is to transfer our Islamic culture and civilization to our future generations in the most accurate way and to ensure that they are protected.” said.

Underlining that the museum does not belong only to Turkey, Minister Ersoy said, “The museum is located in an exemplary mosque, both in Turkey's largest mosque and in one of the few mosques in the world. At the same time, we are at a point that is the center of attention of many foreign tourists visiting our country from abroad. (The museum) will also play a very important role in explaining our Islamic civilization. Again, I would like to thank everyone who contributed in this context.” used the phrases.

The Museum of Islamic Civilizations, which was built in a total indoor area of 10 thousand square meters, was prepared with works selected from the collections of the Topkapı Palace and Palace Collections Museum, Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, Istanbul Archeology Museums, Istanbul Tombs Museum and Foundations Museum.
