National Sovereignty Day, which started to be celebrated in 1921 with the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and celebrated with the abolition of the sultanate on November 1, 1922 in the following years, and "23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day", which is celebrated by combining with another holiday, Children's Day, is celebrated every year. continues to be one of the most important days.

Celebrated with various activities by hundreds of thousands of citizens all over Turkey, April 23 was not celebrated as enthusiastically as it used to be in recent years. This year, when the effects of the pandemic gradually disappeared, IMM took action to celebrate April 23 with enthusiasm. İBB moved the people of Istanbul by decorating the metro and trams.

For the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality decorated the metro and trams with decorations hung on the windows during the primary school years. Equipped with ATA flags and reading slips, the subway revived the memories of many citizens.
