Invitation to the Exhibition Why Poets Paint by Imamoglu

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluvisited the exhibition themed “Why Do Poets Paint” opened on March 21 with the cooperation of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Antalya Culture and Art. Imamoglu, who examined the works in the exhibition opened at the Saraçhane Exhibition Hall in the main campus of IMM, was informed by Mahir Polat, Deputy Secretary General of IMM. Examining the works in the exhibition hall with interest, İmamoğlu expressed his feelings with the following words:

“I INVITE YOU TO SARAÇHANE”

“There is an unknown exhibition hall in Saraçhane. Because this area, which was used as an exhibition hall in its first years, unfortunately lost this identity later on. After we took office, we held the first exhibition with the painting of Fatih Sultan Mehmet in our exhibition hall in that big building of our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Saraçhane. Our second exhibition was about Ahmet İsvan. The legendary Mayor of Istanbul in the 70s. Founder of Halk Ekmek. A populist Mayor who opened the first People's Bread factory. Now, there is an exhibition that surprises me, makes me emotional and actually asks questions at the end. We are waiting for Istanbulites. You should definitely come. We have an enormous exhibition where you can say, 'What beautiful works have come out of the same hand', as if a poem is poured out from a pen or a painting is made from a brush. Because we have an exhibition here that deals with the painting skills of poets; waiting for you. Inside, we have a delightful exhibition that will surprise you and make you wonder, 'Is he a poet out of a poet or a poet out of a painter?' I invite you to Saraçhane, especially the young people and all my citizens from Istanbul. Hope to meet you in our Saraçhane building, in this exhibition hall in your building.”
