Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that the number of people who preferred the airline in the January-March period of 2022 increased by 67,6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and rose to 29 million 633 thousand.

Karaismailoğlu said, “We made the airline the way of the people” and stated that the investments are also reflected in the statistics. Karaismailoğlu pointed out that in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year, the air traffic reached 14 thousand 155 with an increase of 913 percent in domestic flights and 77,9 thousand 105 with an increase of 372 percent in international flights. Pointing out that the total aircraft traffic increased by 44,1 percent to 338 thousand 386 with the overpasses, Karaismailoğlu said, “In this period, when the domestic passenger traffic of the airports in Turkey was 15 million 953 thousand, the international passenger traffic was 13 million 612 thousand, transit passengers and together, a total of 29 million 633 thousand passengers were served. Domestic passenger traffic is 36,9 percent; international passenger traffic is 126,3 percent; total passenger traffic increased by 67,6 percent.

11 MILLION 414 THOUSAND PASSENGERS USED ISTANBUL AIRPORT

Emphasizing that the freight traffic reached 750 thousand 586 tons in total in the same period, Karaismailoğlu said, “A total of 20 thousand 985 aircraft traffic, 60 thousand 891 on domestic lines and 81 thousand 876 on international lines, took place at Istanbul Airport. 2 million 923 thousand passengers traveled on domestic lines and 8 million 490 thousand passengers on international lines. In total, 11 million 414 thousand passengers used Istanbul Airport.

IN MARCH, THE NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL PASSENGERS INCREASED 109,4%

Compared to the same month of 2021, the passenger traffic served in March increased by 25,1 percent in domestic lines and 109,4 percent in international lines. There was an increase of 55,3% in total passenger traffic. A total of 4 million 369 thousand passengers were served at Istanbul Airport.
