Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, first visited Göçbeyli Village in Pendik on October 21, 2019. Standing in front of the cameras with the village women in the agricultural production region, İmamoğlu said, “We will take an important step here. We will support the producer and the first actor of this support will be IMM.” Giving the good news to the women of Göçbey that "we will come to a completely different village in 1 year", İmamoğlu started the "Harvest Festival" event in the same village on July 11, 2020. İmamoğlu also opened the “Producer Cooperative Market”, which he gave to the villagers, on July 12, 2020, Kadıköy He performed with his mother, Hava İmamoğlu, at the Tuesday Market.
“GET LOTS OF EARNINGS”
Imamoglu's third visit to Göçbeyli was for iftar. According to the data of 2021, İmamoğlu, who came together with all the villagers in the tent set up in the town with a population of 1.390, broke his fast here. Making a short speech to the villagers before iftar, İmamoğlu said:
“I came to my favorite village. I told my friends that I wanted to have iftar together with you. I said; 'I want to go home and open an iftar in Göçbeyli.' They said; 'This is not possible. This is not at home. We should all be together.' Frankly, I was happy. I know the faces of many of the ladies in you now. I was very impressed when I first came here. When I first came here, when I saw the women working in the fields, I felt my mother, I saw my mother when I saw you. Since that day, while taking every step with my friends related to agriculture in Istanbul, believe me, I have been trying to catch up and run to every village in that labor environment, working environment, that fertile environment where I saw you. May your homes be blessed. May you earn a lot. May the month of Ramadan always bring you beauties and give your beautiful children clarity of mind. May their future be good. I hope we always look at each other like this. Happy ramadan. May Allah accept it. I love you all."
After the mass iftar, İmamoğlu fulfilled the requests of the villagers to take photos. The villagers also presented their own products to İmamoğlu. İmamoğlu visited 76-year-old Saadet Çamur, a resident of the village, at his home after iftar.
