Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is launching the application of using Visa contactless card, in addition to paying with cash and Izmirim Card for boarding the car ferries. The cash payment will be valid for one more month and will expire on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
The convenience of paying the boarding fees to the ferryboats operated between Üçkuyular-Bostanlı piers by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality İZDENİZ General Directorate starts today (Saturday, 30 April) with Visa contactless credit card, debit card and prepaid cards. Work continues to include Mastercard in the system.
İzmirim Card can also be used
Stating that the vehicle boarding fees can also be paid with İzmirim Card, the Head of Metropolitan Transportation Department, Sibel Özgür, said that the cash payment application, which has been going on for years, will take another month and will end on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Özgür said, “The fee payment system, where only İzmirim Kart and contactless debit cards will be valid, will reduce waiting times due to cash exchanges at the counters. Getting on the ferries will be much faster," he said.
On the other hand, İZDENİZ personnel sell İzmirim Cards to drivers who want it at the vehicle waiting areas of Bostanlı and Üçkuyular piers. More than 300 drivers received cards in the last two days; It was stated that the application, which provides convenience, will continue throughout May.
