China's Rail Freight Volume Increases By 2,8 Percent In The First Quarter

In the first quarter of the year, goods sent by rail in China increased by 2,8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 948 million tons. According to the information obtained from China Railway Company, in the first quarter of the year, there was a high demand in domestic rail freight transportation.

In order to meet the demands of combating the epidemic, railway freight transport was intensified, and 384 tons of different types of materials were sent to various parts of the country. In addition, agricultural materials sent on the railway for spring planting increased by 8,8 percent on an annual basis and reached 43 million 790 thousand tons; thermal coal, on the other hand, increased by 6,5 percent to 350 million tons.

On the other hand, Chinese railways play an important role in maintaining stability in international industry and supply chains. In the first quarter of the year, freight train services between China and Europe increased by 7 percent on an annual basis and reached 3 thousand 630. The number of containers sent within the scope of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, which aims to integrate the Western region of China into the global economy, increased by 56,5% and reached 170. The China-Laos railway, on the other hand, showed a rapid growth trend with the shipment of 260 thousand tons of foreign trade goods.
