The project application for the Sectoral Dialogue Partnership program carried out by the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry in cooperation with Turkey and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was successful and approved. Making evaluations on the subject, Celalettin Kesikbaş, President of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry (ESO), made the following statements: “Our Chamber actively uses grant resources, especially the European Union, with the objectives of promoting Eskişehir industry, increasing its exports and brand value, and developing international business connections. Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, which has achieved many firsts, will implement a project that will set an example in this field as well. We are starting our new project that will guide our trade with Southeast Asian countries.”

First International Grant Project to be Conducted with ASEAN

ESO President Kesikbaş stated that the Project of Strengthening the Business Dialogue Platform Between the Southeast Asian Nations Association (ASEAN) and Turkey is the first project prepared to develop sectoral dialogues between Turkey and ASEAN. Kesikbaş said, “This project, which officially started on February 1, 2022 and will last for eighteen months, includes trade delegations with ASEAN, bilateral business meetings (B2B), establishment of an online foreign trade portal, country market meetings, commercial intelligence trainings, consultancy to facilitate trade with ASEAN countries. It includes many activities such as programs. At the end of the project, it is aimed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Turkey and ASEAN. Bringing its trade with Europe and the USA to a certain level, Eskişehir will also focus on Asia-Pacific countries with this project. Southeast Asia is a huge market that is developing very rapidly and offers serious opportunities. This project will be an important tool that will enable us to build bridges between Eskişehir and ASEAN countries.” said.

Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, Adana Chamber of Industry, Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Aydın Chamber of Commerce take place as joint organizations in the project “Establishing a Business Dialogue Platform Between ASEAN Countries and Turkey”, of which the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and ASEAN General Secretariat are the contracting authorities. taking. In the project, which will continue until August 2023 and has a budget of 231.000 dollars, activities aimed at sectoral commercial cooperation will be implemented. Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia and Laos countries are members of ASEAN, which is headquartered in Jakarta and was established in 1967. It is known that the total population of ASEAN countries is 600 million and their gross domestic product is 3 trillion dollars. The Union plays a central role in Asia-Pacific economic integration.
