The official opening of the ceremonies, which will continue throughout the year by the Metropolitan Municipality due to the 2022 declaration of Bursa as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, started with the cortege march attended by the foreign ministers and ambassadors of the member states of TURKSOY.

In Bursa, which was declared the 2022 Turkic World Capital of Culture by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), the activities that started with the celebrations of the Nevruz Festival continue at full speed. Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Anar Karimov, who came to Bursa for the official opening of the events, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Nurkissa Dauyeshov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policies of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Camankulov, Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Murodjon Madjidov, North Turkish Republic of Cyprus Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, Turkmenistan Ankara Ambassador İşankuli Amanlıyev, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, TÜRK-PA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er, Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation President Günay Efendiyeva and Hungary's Consul General in Istanbul László Together with Kelle, he visited Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat in his office. Children wearing local clothes welcomed the guest delegation with flowers at the entrance of the Governor's Office. After the commemorative photograph taken at the Governor's Office to commemorate the day, the members of the protocol watched the Alpine changing of the guard ceremony in front of the Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi tombs.

“We are aware of our responsibility”

The cortege march, which started with the marches of the Mehter team, took place with intense participation. Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat, Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş and guest ministers attended the cortege; horsemen, archers, sword shield team and folk dance teams from the guest countries added a different color. The march, which was followed with interest by the citizens, was completed in Ertuğrulbey Square. During the events held in the square, the mehter marches and the sword shield show were watched with interest. Making a short speech at the ceremony here, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said, “Bursa is the city where the foundations of the greatest civilization this geography has ever seen were laid. The city where a world state was born and spread over three continents. The city where a magnificent dream, stretching from Asia to the depths of Europe, has come true. The city that has been the cradle of different civilizations. Bursa is a UNESCO city. After all, it is a Turkish city. Therefore, we experience the justified pride and happiness of Bursa being the Cultural Capital of the Turkish World. In addition to the excitement we experience, we are also aware of the responsibility we have undertaken.”

After his speech, President Aktaş presented a plaque of appreciation to Bursa Commodity Exchange President Özer Matlı, who allocated the place, which has been used as the Commodity Exchange building for nearly 50 years, as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World Coordination Center.

In the program, which continued with the presentation of semen to the protocol members, the tradition of forging iron and jumping over fire was kept alive by the protocol members.

Later, the ribbon was cut and the 2022 Turkish World Culture Capital Bursa Coordination Center was put into service.

Mayor Aktaş later hosted his foreign guests in the historical city hall.
