The world-famous Austrian companies of the ski industry and the managers of the ski resorts in Turkey, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Erciyes A.Ş. hosted by Advantage Austria Winter Tourism Summit. Austria's Ambassador to Ankara Johannes Wimmer also attended the opening program of the summit held in Erciyes Ski Center.
Erciyes, which has become a winter sports and tourism center at international standards, continues to host different social, sportive, national and global events related to skiing and mountain sports.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Erciyes A.Ş. The Advantage Austria Winter Tourism Summit, organized with the cooperation of the Austrian Trade Office and the Austrian Trade Office, started in Erciyes, Kayseri.
Austrian Ambassador to Ankara Johannes Wimmer, Kayseri Erciyes A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Murat Cahid Cıngı, Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Chairman Ömer Gülsoy, Austrian Trade Undersecretary Georg Karabaczek and world-renowned Austrian companies and managers of ski resorts in Turkey attended.
Expressing that it was wonderful to be at this important summit, Ambassador Wimmer thanked everyone who contributed to the summit and drew attention to the climate crisis in his speech. In his statement, Ambassador also touched upon cooperation and stated that problems can be overcome thanks to cooperation, and gave information about the tourism sector.
“HIGHLY INTERESTING SUMMIT”
Ambassador Wimmer, in his speech describing the summit as very interesting, said:
“Winter tourism has a big share for Austria. It constitutes 7.5 percent of our gross national product. When you look at a large portion. The foreign exchange left by the guests is 47 billion Euros. As ski tourism, Austria is one of the most popular stops. As you know, this is a very big industry in Austria. The mountains in Austria and their ridges are suitable for skiing. This program is also implemented abroad. We are very happy that this event is also taking place here. The fact that we are all together at this summit today is a very promising and important issue. Collaboration is very important for this to be sustainable. Thank you all again for a very interesting summit.”
Erciyes Inc. Chairman of the Board Murat Cahid Cıngı, on the other hand, stated that Erciyes has turned into an international ski center within the framework of the Master Plan, and emphasized that they are working with European and especially Austrian consultants and representatives. In his speech, Cıngı wished that winter tourism has come to the fore here, that the manufacturers who have become a brand in this community come to Erciyes and that the managers who plan to build a ski resort from all over Turkey are here to contribute to the country's winter tourism.
Kayseri Chamber of Commerce President Ömer Gülsoy stated that they attach great importance to tourism and said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Mehmet Özhaseki, our former Minister of the Metropolitan Municipality, who put forward a great vision in 2005. Thank you for implementing the Erciyes Master Plan on a magnificent mountain. Erciyes Inc. We would also like to thank our Chairman of the Board, our brother Murat, for his great efforts. At the Austria – Turkey Winter and Mountain Tourism Summit, issues such as the impact of climate change on mountain tourism, winter and mountain tourism infrastructure, and financial support for tourism infrastructure projects in Turkey were discussed.
On the second day of the summit, where representatives of ski resorts from all over Turkey had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Austrian suppliers in Erciyes, a ski race will also be held among the guests.
