According to Jordan's official news agency Petra, Salih bin Nasser al-Jasir said at a meeting organized by the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce (JCC) that the new railway will facilitate passenger, freight and vehicle movements between the two countries. Jordanian Industry, Trade and Procurement Minister Yusuf al-Shamali praised Saudi Arabia as Jordan's largest trading partner and pointed out that the two countries have strategic relations at all levels.
Jordan Chamber of Commerce President Nail al-Kebariti described transport as one of the key drivers of economic development and called for the unification of laws governing the transport systems of the two countries to improve trade exchanges. Al-Kabariti also underlined that Jordan and Saudi Arabia should reach an agreement on storage logistics in order to strengthen food security.
