Tramways in Samsun are Entrusted to Women and Vatmans

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality SAMULAŞ A.Ş. 90 of the 35 citizens working within the body are women. Using trams with a capacity of approximately 56 tons, 40 meters and a capacity of 350 passengers, women's trains carry tens of thousands of passengers every day. Sinem Tailor said, “Our work requires a lot of attention” and that her profession is an example to many women. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which makes positive discrimination towards women's employment in every field, entrusts the trams to them. 90 of the 35 citizens working in the light rail systems of SAMULAŞ A.Ş are women.

Some passengers are also surprised when they see the female drivers working on the 56-ton, 40-meter-long, 350-passenger capacity trams. The women trainees, who eagerly go to work every morning, also thanked the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality for providing them with this opportunity.

Sinem Terzi, 35, a graduate of English Language and Literature, who is one of 32 female citizens, said that she has been working as a citizen for 3 years. Stating that he started to work by taking interviews 3 years ago, Terzi said, “After my training, I started working. I love my job. Of course, as with every job, there are difficulties in being a mechanic. We get up at 4 am and start work at 5 am. Our business demands a lot of attention,” she said. Pointing out that the women's pilots create surprise in the eyes of the passengers, Sinem Terzi said, "When they see a female pilot, the passengers are really happy. She expresses her astonishment, especially when she sees the children saying, "Sisters are using the train." “Women are happy when they see that I am doing this job.”

WOMEN CAN DO ANY JOB

Saying, “Women can do any job,” Terzi said, “Machinery is one of the professions that women can easily do. Our company attaches great importance to women's employment. We are 90 engineers and 35 of us are women. Our company trusts women. As a woman, this makes me happy,” she said.
